Hello, and welcome! My name is Kristine Mae Mallorca, and I am a registered psychologist in Alberta, Canada committed to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, and client-centered care. My therapeutic approach integrates a range of evidence-based modalities, including Narrative Therapy, EMDR, Somatic Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, and Trauma-Informed Care. Each session is tailored to meet your unique needs and goals, ensuring a supportive and collaborative path toward growth and healing.
As an immigrant from the Philippines, my experiences navigating cultural transitions and finding a sense of belonging have deeply influenced my perspective as a psychologist. Being multilingual and able to communicate in both English and Tagalog allows me to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds, especially those who might feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their native language. While I may not be the most fluent Tagalog speaker, my ability to communicate meaningfully in Tagalog helps bridge cultural gaps and fosters a deeper sense of understanding and connection.
With nearly a decade of experience working in non-profits across Edmonton, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside individuals and families as they navigated life’s most difficult moments. I began my journey in frontline roles at an emergency shelter, where I provided immediate support to those in crisis. From there, I took on intake coordination, helping people connect with the services they needed, and later moved into leadership roles, including supervising frontline teams and managing programs.
These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the unique struggles people face—whether it’s coping with trauma, overcoming systemic barriers, or feeling stuck in survival mode. I learned firsthand the importance of listening without judgment, responding with empathy, and balancing emotional support with practical solutions. In high-pressure environments, you become skilled at holding space for others while offering strategies that promote safety, healing, and growth.
In therapy, I see myself as your partner, walking alongside you on your journey for as long as you allow me to. I strive to create a safe, flexible, and adaptive space to support you through life’s challenges and empower you to uncover your strengths. Whether you’re seeking practical tools, deeper healing, or a safe space to explore your experiences, I am here to support you every step of the way.
I look forward to connecting with you and helping you take meaningful steps toward the life you envision.
Outside of my work, I find joy and balance through a variety of hobbies, including playing video games, snowboarding, golfing, and traveling. These activities not only expand my world and inspire personal growth but also help me connect with clients on a human level. By embracing interests beyond my professional identity, I aim to break down preconceived notions of what a psychologist "should" be, creating a more approachable and relatable therapeutic experience.
